Frequently Asked Questions

When and where will elections take place?

Elections will be held on Thursday, June 12, from 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry in King Ballroom I and II. As per FJA Bylaws, elections will take place one (1) day following the General Membership Meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, June 11, from 1:15pm - 1:30 pm in King Ballroom I and II.

Who is eligible to vote?

You must be a FJA Voting Member in order to receive and cast a ballot during elections. Not sure if you qualify? Contact the FJA Membership Department regarding questions about your membership status and eligibility to vote in this year’s election or when you arrive at Convention, visit the FJA Registration Desk and ask to speak with a Member Services representative.

Is it too late to nominate someone to run for an open seat?

No. Nominations for Officers and Directors will be accepted during the General Membership Meeting being held on Wednesday, June 11, from 1:15pm - 1:30 pm.

When are ballots distributed?

Ballots will be distributed on Thursday, June 12, in King Ballroom I and II to those eligible to vote upon the conclusion of candidate speeches. Absolutely no exceptions will be granted to this procedure.

Do I have to be present in order to vote?

Yes. Ballots will only be distributed to those who claim their ballot in person (photo ID required) on Thursday, June 12, in King Ballroom I and II following candidate speeches. No proxies are allowed.

How many seats are to be filled?

Currently, there are 23 candidates running to fill 12 vacant seats. Any completed ballot with votes for more or less than 12 candidates will be deemed invalid and will NOT be counted.

When can I cast my vote?

Ballots will be distributed upon completion of candidate speeches and will be accepted from eligible members until 4:00 pm or adjournment of the meeting (whichever occurs later) on Thursday, June 12, in King Ballroom I and II at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry in Miami.
